The President and the Chair of the IBIA, and the Congress Scientific Planning Committee would like to invite you to attend the Ninth World Congress on Brain Injury, to be held in March 2012 in Edinburgh, Scotland. Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland, is a picturesque historic city, dominated by its famous castle with many fine hotels, restaurants, museums and traditional pubs! There is easy access to Glasgow, the Highlands and to tourist and sporting opportunities.

As an added benefit of membership, IBIA produces a quarterly publication, the International NeuroTrauma Letter (NTL), in an electronic format.

The Seventh World Congress on Brain injury of the International Brain Injury Association was held in conjunction with the Portuguese Society of PRM in Lisbon, Portugal, from April 9-12, 2008. A pre-congress, one day symposium on MTBI, co-sponsored with the World Federation of Neurological Rehabilitation (WFNR), was held on 4/8/08. The event was an overwhelming success with delegates from every corner of the world in attendance.

The International Brain Injury Association held a highly successful Eighth World Congress on Brain Injury in Washington, DC on March 10-14, 2010.  A Congress recap will be posted on this site shortly.

IBIA World Congress is the largest gathering of international professionals working in the field of brain injury. Delegates are comprised of neurosurgeons, rehabilitation physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, speech pathologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, social workers, nurses, case managers, legal professionals, advocates and all others working in the field of brain injury. As chairperson and president of the IBIA Seventh World Congress on Brain Injury in Lisbon, Portugal, we would like to invite the participation of all professionals involved with serving persons with acquired brain injury to this international Congress and meeting of minds. We are very excited about having the meeting in Lisbon which, historically, has been the center of one of the biggest empires of all time with colonies in the Americas, Asia and Africa.

The 6 th World Congress on Brain Injury was held in Melbourne, Australia, from the 4-8 th May 2005, in conjunction with the annual scientific meetings of the Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine (AFRM) and Australian Society for the Study of Brain Impairment (ASSBI). The Conference Chairman was Dr David Burke and the Scientific Program Chairs were Professor Jennie Ponsford and Associate Professor John Olver, assisted by a committee and conference organizers, International Convention Management Services.
